Microsoft SharePoint is a document and resources library with an incredible amount of versatility and customisation options. To think of it as simply a cloud storage option is seriously underestimating it’s ability Not only can it securely store documents but it makes them very easy to find, share, collaborate on and approve.

It is unique in that it uses metadata rather than a conventional file naming system, meaning that documents can be stored in one place and sorted by their individual characteristics.

This method is so much easier than having a folder system with sub folders and even sub sub folders. having a “say what it says on the tin” attitude to file naming makes it easier to use the superior search function to find just what you need, when you need it.

Rather than having folders SharePoint uses different libraries which can be open to everyone or access controlled. In addition to this documents can have workflows attached to them so when the team is working remotely (and who isn’t these days) a file can be sent to a colleague for approval all done remotely.
